For the first part of the lesson we had to choose a typeface that best communicated our personality. The tutor analysed peoples choices and made some observations about why we had chosen the typefaces. It was interesting to see that some of the characteristics he took from the fonts were mostly accurate in relation to the person.
For the second part we were given a profession to communicate in the form of a business card just using type. I received scaffolder. I decided to use a slab serif typeface for the heading to represent structures and connecting segments of piping. I used a simple sans-serif font for the details. We didn't have much time to do this so I found it difficult to do it justice.
The session however was really engaging and showed how type can communicate many things with the small details. This will be useful in the future when thinking about using appropriate type for a specific audience.
